The Rise & Fall of AM Radio

Interesting and informative article about the history of AM radio in Pittsburgh, PA, and this seems to apply to just about everywhere else in the country.

http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/ae/tv-radio/the-rise-and-fall-of-am-radio-707433/

I still listen to the local news stations in New York on AM. Plus AM is still a free source to listen to your favorite sports teams home games. The public NPR radio stations is a reliable place for news plus they are commercial free.

Still as the article points out the competition must be tough for the stations to attract listeners and keep them with all the entertainment outlets available.

Wonder what will become of AM radio in the future?

Monitoring Times....

The staff at Monitoring Times says in will continue with an online magazine called The Spectrum Monitor in PDF format starting in January 2014.

Future link below:

This is good news for Monitoring Times followers.

Check out this video interview with Bob Grove of Monitoring Times magazine.

I still prefer a paper type magazine instead of an electronic version, but the costs to put out a magazine in the long run probably is to expensive these days.
